Mr. Ricardo Nazario-Colón

Brother Ricardo Nazario-Colón is the Director of the Office of Diversity of Programs at the Western Kentucky University. Ricardo received his M.S.T. degree in Secondary Education (Spanish) from Pace University in New York City and his B.A. in Latin American Studies and Spanish from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. He is a former United States Marine where he served with distinction and honor for eight years.

He has worked as a faculty member for the New York City Public School System and as an administrator for the City University of New York System, The University of Kentucky and Western Kentucky University. He also served as New York State Director for the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. where he implemented policy, developed programming, conducted risk management and was responsible to the Eastern Regional Director for the well being of 39 chapter’s charters of the organization. Mr. Nazario-Colón has been published in several magazines, newspapers and journals including the: Thinker Review: Eclipsing a Nappy New Millennium: Aphros and Arts Across Kentucky. In addition he was featured in the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) documentary Coal Black Voices, which was aired by Kentucky Education Television and is a founding member of the Affrilachian Poets. As an educator, Mr. Nazario-Colón research includes: The Differences in Secondary Language Acquisition Between Adult and Student Learners; Similarities and Differences in the Afro-Caribbean Poetry of the Spanish Antilles and The Impact of Cultural Education on Higher Education Student Retention.
