Brother Michael Davis, husband, father, leader, educator, role model and servant to the community. Michael Miller Davis is a native of Chicago, Illinois. Reared in the Gresham Community of the city’s South Side, Michael attended St. Sabina Catholic Elementary School and received his high school diploma from Hales Franciscan High School. He was initiated into the Delta Chi Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity on 17 November 1978. Michael received a dual degree in Speech Pathology & Audiology from Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1983 and a Masters of Education from North Carolina Central University in Durham in 1989. Michael served as a hearing and speech therapist in the San Diego City Schools as well as the Chicago Public Schools before accepting a position in the Chicago Police Department.
Michael’s God given gifts of leadership, efficiency and motivation have enabled him to serve in various capacities throughout his 17 years with the department. As a law enforcement professional, Michael has instructed officers of varying ranks and abilities through the Chicago Police Department’s Education and Training Academy. This role has included specialized program appointments with the Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy (C.A.P.S) program, the Joint Community/Police Team (JCPT), the Instructional Design Quality Control Team (I.D.Q.C.), Recruitment Ambassador Team, the Research and Development Division Policy and Procedure Section and the Bureau of Professional Standards Inspections Division. He has also served as a Rescue Diver for the Police Marine Unit. Michael was recognized as a “We Care Role Model” in 2002 for his participation in the We Care Role Model Youth Motivational Program and was also awarded a Chicago Police Department Life Saving Award for a rescue mission performed while serving as a member of the CPD Marine Unit. Michael is married to Tonyanika Davis and is a devoted father to his children.
