Brother Bennie Lee Harris, Ph.D. is the international director of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Leadership Development Academy. Professionally, he is vice president for development and adjunct professor of business at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. For the past several years, he has managed his consulting business, BLH Ventures and Associates, which he is president/senior consultant for. BLH Ventures and Associates provide consulting services to businesses, nonprofits, educational and faith based institutions. He has served and consulted with more than 50 organizations across the country. Harris has more than 18 years of experience in volunteer and professional fundraising including annual giving, alumni relations, major gifts, planned giving, events management, government relations, corporate and foundation relations, advisory board support and marketing.
Brother Harris holds a bachelor of sciences degree in industrial engineering from Mississippi State University, a MBA in strategic marketing from Washington State University and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Prior to moving to Nashville, Harris held the position of assistant vice president for development and campaign director, at DePaul University. Harris also served as the director for the Center for Human Rights at Washington State University, as interim director and associate director of corporate and foundation relations at Washington State, and as senior director of development and external affairs at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Harris is married to Frankie and together they have three children, Bria Lee Andrea, Bennie Lee, II and Branden LeeAndre’. They reside in Franklin, Tennessee. They worship at the Schrader Lane Church of Christ where Dr. Harris teaches Servant Leadership and Servant Economics.
