Dr. Adell Brown, Jr.
Brother Adell Brown, Jr., Ph.D. is actively involved with helping to improve the Greater Baton Rouge Area. Much of his community service work is through the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., the Greater Baton Rouge Pan Hellenic Council and the 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge. Brown works locally and nationally with the educational program of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated having served as the Chair of local Chapter’s education committee. Brown serves on the Board of Directors for the National Sigma Beta Foundation, the youth development component of the fraternity. Brown is the immediate past president and a member of the executive committee of the Greater Baton Rouge National Pan Hellenic Council. In the Pan Hellenic Council, he is active with the voter education/registration campaign and the annual community recognition program known as the Polaris Award. Brown serves as Chair of the Community Affairs committee (the community outreach and service arm) of the 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge. This committee was responsible for raising and distributing more than $75,000 in cash along with several tractor-trailer loads of clothing and supplies to our displaced citizens by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Adell Brown serves as Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration for the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center, since July 1, 2003. Brown is married to Doris Gray Brown; they have three daughters and one grandson, Taylor Brown. Brown attends the Mount Zion First Baptist Church.
